Description: Early 12 Piece Meriden Brittania Co. Lily Pad Open Salt Cellar Set with Presentation Case The cellar features a lily pad with a lily bloom as the salt holder. It stands approx 1 1/4 inches tall by 2 1/8 inches from handle to point of lily pad. It is marked on the bottom with the Meriden B Company mark and the product number 31. The set is in excellent conditon with bright luster and appears to have little is any use.The fitted case is in good conditon on the outside and the lid closes evenly. The latch perates, but does not grab.The interior is in fair condition. The Meriden Britannia Co., Meriden, CT 1852-1898First organized as Britannia ware manufacturers, silverplate production began c. 1855. Their sterling holloware line began in 1896 when they acquired Wilcox & Eversten; sterling flatware production began in 1897. Purchased Rogers Bros. Mfg. Co. in 1862, acquiring the 1847 Rogers Bros. trademark at that time. Meriden Britannia Co. was one of the original companies that joined together in 1898 to became International Silver.
