1/32 de Havilland Mosquito B Mk. IV Series II HK Models #01E15 Factory Seal MISB

Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE I have to clear some space on my shelves (and this kit covers a lot of shelf space!), so I need to reluctantly part with some of my collection. HK Models has burst onto the modeling scene producing some exciting subjects in large scale. They range from US bombers like the B-17 and B-25 to the German Dornier Do 335 Pfeil to the British Meteor and this Mosquito. The agile Mosquito was known as the Wooden Wonder because of its construction. HK Models has also made a revolutionary step with this kit by molding the fuselage parts as single pieces as opposed to making two halves that always leaves a pesky seam to work on. There is also a massive one part wing, so there are no joints. I encourage you to look through the review images to see what I mean. There are almost a dozen listings for this kit on eBay (many from distant sellers), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this to you very quickly. Here is some of the info I found from around the web about this stunning kit: The HK Models website (hk-models.com) shows the cover art, a finished model, CAD renderings of the Nose, Fuselage and one-piece Wing parts, as well as the decals and painting guide. They offer a link to download the complete 28-page instruction set and painting guide and even provide a fascinating history of the aircraft (partially reprinted below): The Mosquito was probably one of the RAF’s most versatile aircraft de- signs, and indeed, an aircraft that we may never have had at all if it wasn’t for the perseverance of its designer, Geoffrey de Havilland. It was actually the simplicity of de Havilland’s design that could well have seen the project being stillborn. To meet Air Ministry requirements for a high-speed bomber, de Havilland proposed a new airframe, composed mainly of non-strategic materials, and powered by twin Rolls Royce Merlin engines. Unlike designs which were submitted by other manufacturers, de Havilland envisaged that his machine would be fast enough to be totally unarmed, and with a smooth, aerodynamic exterior. For the Air Ministry, this perhaps seemed a little too much like a flight of fancy, and de Havilland was asked to simply act as a contractor for designs from other manufacturers. Undeterred, Geoffrey de Havilland took on his design under a private venture arrangement, using a small design team led by Eric Bishop, and work began under strict secrecy at Salisbury Hall, Hertfordshire, in October 1939. The aircraft was to be designated ‘DH.98’. Even though de Havilland’s proposal was for an unarmed bomber, his team created a design, which would allow the installation of four forward firing cannon that would sit in the forward belly of the aircraft, and fire through blast tubes. Scalemates.com shows the stunning cover art and reports that this is a new mold from 2015. There is a link to download the complete 28-page instruction set and painting guide. They also provide links to many reviews, references and galleries of professional-looking models. James Hatch brings us a Test Shot Preview of the pre-production kit at the hyperscale.com site with over 70 photos of the parts. It turns out that he built the prototype of this kit (as shown on the box), so he obviously knows a little about the kit. Michael Benolkin published an outstanding First Look Review on the cybermodeler.com site with ten high-resolution photos of the parts. He compiles an impressive list of kit features and relates a personal story about how the Mossie ties into his family. He piled on abundant praise for the kit, saying: “This kit is an engineering marvel with its (literally) one-piece wing (they've molded the top and bottom of the wing as one piece and you simply slip the movable landing flaps in place before closing things up).” Mike posted a very thorough In-Box Review on the britmodeller.com forum site with over two dozen high-resolution photos of the parts. He loves the aircraft and was floored by the kit. One of the parts I remember from his review describes the innovation and attention to detail that HK Models used in carefully packaging this large model. He said: “Inside there isn't much in the way of wasted space, with styrene parts taking up most of the volume, carefully packaged in re-sealable cellophane bags. The fuselage parts are further protected by some self-cling wrap to stop the parts chaffing against each other in transit, while the glazing parts have been secured to a white backing card with tape to further protect them too.” Kevin Futter delivered an extensive In-Box Review on the (appropriate) largescaleplanes.com site with 45 detailed photos of the kit contents. He was amazed at the engineering and molding of this kit. His Conclusion includes: “This is a terrific kit, featuring innovative engineering and an ingenious parts breakdown. The inclusion of two full engines gives you plenty of scope for a superdetailed, open-cowling display, or even a full maintenance diorama. The decals are also excellent, and the included schemes should provide something for everyone. The surprise inclusion of two excellent resin crew figures is a really nice bonus. It's a great release and is highly recommended!” This kit is in a huge and colorfully illustrated box about 20.5” x 10.5” x 4”. As you can see from the pictures, the kit is in great shape and still sealed with tape strips, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains over 300 highly detailed light grey and clear plastic parts, a small fret of photo etched metal parts and a large sheet of Cartograf decals to build this iconic RAF Fighter Bomber with a Cookie Bomb. This release also has two bonus resin figures! I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays the winning bid and for a limited time I am offering this huge item with $16 Flat Rate Shipping in the US! No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
