Description: As found, as shown in the photographs. It measures approximately 15” diameter and weighs 45oz. It’s marked Towle Pewter 4655 on the back. The engraving on the front is advertising or a commemorative gift from the A.C. Monk and Company Tobacco Supplier of Farmville North Carolina. It says” In 1492, two Earth shaking discoveries were made: America and tobacco. In this Bicentennial (likely 1976) year, we are proud to salute them both. A.C Monk and Company Farmville, North Carolina USA” There are pictures of what I believe to be the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria ships that Columbus sailed to “discover” America, one docked. There are horse drawn wagons and people moving large wooden barrels on land. There is a metal hook for wall-hanging on the back. Part of the rim has some light wave that could be fixed, and the plate has some light tarnishing, scratches, and adhesive residue, which should clean & polish easily. The attached card shown explains more. It has some tape also.
