Description: Here we have a ballast stone that measures 3 3/16" long and weighs 8.6 ounces. I recovered this stone in June 2007 from the Corrigans wreck site; part of the Spanish treasure fleet that sunk off the Florida coast in 1715. You get the ballast stone that is shown in the first three pictures and a certificate of authenticity (signed by me). A yellow state tag will not come with this item; at that time, it was not necessary to tag ballast stones. I had a contract to work this area and document all the artifacts, several of which went to the museum in Tallahassee. The Mel Fisher group also kept their share of the artifacts recovered. The fourth picture shows some of the other artifacts we recovered from the wreck sites. The last three pictures are from the Corrigans wreck site where this stone was collected; showing some ballast stones in situ, a nearby encrusted cannon and me in the last picture locating artifacts (and a whole lot of junk :) with a metal detector. A search on the net will give you more information about these wrecks; including all the silver, gold and jewels lost with over 900 lives in this horrible maritime accident. A fantastic piece of New World history, this is an authentic artifact and has not been restored or altered in any way. There is a satisfaction guaranteed return policy on all my items, if you are not satisfied for any reason please return the item for a full refund. Check out our store for other authentic fossils and artifacts. Thanks for looking!
