The obverse shows a castle surrounded by lettering , spelling out H A M B V R G E R, with a 5 petal rose at the top of the castle. The reverse shows the value, with the date, and mint master initials below it, surrounded by laurel sprigs. On the obverse, the lettering at the bottom center is weaker than the other letters. The color on both sides is the varying silver and gray of aged silver.
