With an introductory account of the author's life by J R Farre, M.D. In 1805 Saunders founded the first ophthalmological hospital in London,which was then known as the 'Royal London Ophthalmic Hospital' or the London Dispensary for Curing Diseases of the Eye and Ear. The hospital is today known as Moorfields Eye Hospital. Following his death, this work was published at the expense of the governors of the hospital and by subscription to help Saunders' widow. An informative work on eye diseases. CONDITION In the publisher's original boards. Rebacked with the original boards preserved. Externally, generally smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of spine as well as to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Scattered spotting to the first and last few pages. Otherwise just the odd spot.
