THE LADIES' WREATH: AN ILLUSTRATED ANNUAL was a monthly periodical published from 1846-1862 and also made available as a yearly bound volume. Each monthly installment included a steel engraving, a hand-colored flower print, sheet music for a song or a hymn, and a variety of stories, poems, and essays. This 1852 edition includes stories by editor Helen Irving, Lela Linwood, Alice Craig, Rule Ruby, and Kate Carol, along with essays by clergymen and other writers. There is even a delightful essay on "The Bloomer Dress" by Professor William M. Nevin. This is a beautiful volume that is worthy of a rare book collection. Very good condition. Leather binding slightly rubbed on edges and bumped at corners. Hand-colored plates are bright. Some pages have toning, light foxing, and offsetting. Page 213/214 has a small piece torn off at the bottom. Binding is sound. Gilt decoration is bright.
