Description: Presented is a magnificent American Aesthetic Movement sterling silver centerpiece bowl made by Dominick & Haff. The bowl is masterfully wrought. It has a fabulous matte finish with a gold wash on the interior. The rim is bordered with a wide band of intricate raised flowers, scrolls and leaves against a finely textured ground. The bowl has never been monogrammed or engraved. The quality of the craftsmanship is top-notch. The bowl is marked on the underside with a maker’s mark for Dominick & Haff including the year of manufacture, 1880, Sterling, and Howard & Co. for the retailer. This is so early on in Dominick & Haff’s dating system that they had not yet started using the four digit date mark. They simply stamped the last two digits of the year. This is an early piece of Dominick & Haff. The condition is excellent. There is one small ding on the interior of the bowl, but this is quite minor. There are no dents, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no repairs. The bowl measures 8 1/4 inches in diameter at the rim and 3 3/4 inches tall.
