Description: This fantastic Tobacco card (also referred to as a Cigarette Card )was issued by the ALLEN and GINTER Tobacco Co. of Richmond Virginia, as an insert premium in their brands of Tobacco and Cigarettes during 1888. These cards are from a fairly scarce series of 50 cards entitled, “WORLD’S SMOKERS” . Designated as series N33 in Burdick’s American Card Catalogue . The front of the card features an image of a person dressed in the Traditional Outfit of their native land, and smoking in a manner traditional to the country. The back features a list of the 50 cards in the series with advertising for Allen & Ginter of Richmond Virginia . The Lithography for the card is exceptional. This card features a CHINESE MAN. The Card measures 2 ¾ inches by 1 ½ inches approximately. The card has some lighter edge wear, and a spot of “something” stuck to the fronor it might just be a mark of some kind. There is also a crease I have scanned the cards fairly large for you to be able to judge condition for yourself. Due to the images of different styles of SMOKING PIPES, and other paraphernalia this card would make an excellent gift for anyone interested in Smoking Memorabilia or Tobacciana (eg. a collector of Tobacco Pipes). Don’t Miss out on this over 135 year old card. It is an official American Antique, as it is over 100 years old .
