Description: I have for sale a medal for the 1893 Columbian Exposition that is called the Danish Medal. The medal is made of white metal, it is 2 1/2 inches in diameter & in a high grade circulated condition. The medalist was F. Schmahlfeld. The medal obverse shows a female figure guiding Columbus who is at the tiller of his ship. At the rim it reads CHICAGO 21. OCTBR. 1892 and GUANAHANI 12. OCTBR. 1492. The reverse has an eagle above a cartouche. Inside the cartouche it reads ESPOSIZIONE UNIVERSALE - CHICAGO 1893 - IN MEMORIA DEL ILLUSTRE - NAVIGATORE - CRISTOFORO COLOMBO.
