The town of Needles is located in far eastern San Bernardino county, on the famed Colorado River. Needles was founded in 1883, and not too far from famed "Fort Mohave" on the Colorado. Town is located east of Essex California and not too far from the Mojave Valley, Fort Mohave Az, Bullhead City, Lake Havasu City, Laughlin Nevada region. The old town of NEEDLES is a hot town in the summer, and is known for the proliferation of SALOONS, BARS and LIQUOR related businesses...it was a thirsty historic mojave desert town....with lots of railroad workers....so it seems most tokens are "liquor" related...and this is no exception :) LIKE MANY OLD NEEDLES TOKENS THIS WAS A SALOON THAT SERVED DRINKS OVER 120 YEARS AGO If you look in the original California token book (issued 1976, Kappen) this token is listed under the town of "NEEDLES" as catalog K-6 and it books very high for this old 1976 catalog. (please see pictures in gallery) This token has not been cleaned...looks beautiful in person, tough to find a nicer one....looks like this just came out of great great grandpa's cigar box Gallery pictures should show you all you need to know.
