Description: 18th Century Mischievous Sport Jug This stunning piece is known as the Mischievous Sport and Sportive Innocence jug and dates to c. 1795. On the larger piece, the words SPORTIVE INNOCENCE and MISCHIEVOUS SPIORT are impressed on either side of the heart shaped medallion. This medallion encloses a design pf two sedate little girls, one with a dog, the other a doll. On the other side, there are two girls playing with a gruesome mask. These jugs are exhibited in Several museums. The Arts Council Exhibition in Edinburgh attributes it to Gordon's Bankfoot Pottery at Prestonpans C. 1790.
