Description: For the Baseball Hobbyist. . . Quality Reprint (47 of the 54 cards) Complete 1906 FAN CRAZE National League Baseball Card Set ~ This is considered a complete reprint set since 7 cards were never reprinted* REPRINT Perfect for the set collector! The original cards from this set are now nearly 120 years old. Putting together a complete set can easily run multiple hundreds, even thousands of dollars - even in barely passable condition. This complete reprint set is nice Excellent-Plus/Near-Mint or better. Shortly after the turn of the 19th century two distinctive baseball card game sets were produced featuring top stars of the upstart American League and established National League. Fan Craze American League cards include all 51 originally produced and 47 (of 54) National Leaguers. (Seven National Leaguers were never reprinted.) Card size is standard (2-1/2 by 3-1/2 inches) with machine rounded corners. Backs of the cards come in color: Blue for the American League stars, red for the Nationals. Each card features a black and white vignette. This is a COMPLETE REPRINT SET. The reprint set did not publish all 54 different cards. Players not reprinted are: Fred Clarke, Mike Donlin, Bob Ewing, Ned Hanlon, Miller Huggins, Harry Pulliam and Cy Seymour. Well, who IS included? Just the cream of the Deadball Era crop of the day: 1906 National League stalwarts: Leon "Red" Ames, Ginger Beaumont, Jake Beckley, Billy Bergen, Roger Bresnahan, George Browne, Mordecai [3-Finger] Brown, Jas. Casey, Frank Chance, Thos. Corcoran, Bill Dahlen, Charley Dooin, Mickey Doolan, Hugh Duffy, John E. Dunleavy, Chick Fraser, G. E. Howard, Joseph Kelley, John Kling, Tommy Leach, Harry Lumley, Carl Lundgren, Bill Maloney, Dan McGann, [Iron Man] Joe McGinnity, John J. McGraw, Harry McIntyre, Charley [Kid] Nichols, Mike O'Neill, Orval Overall, Frank Pfeffer, Deacon Phillippe, Charley Pittinger, Claude Ritchey, Ed Reulbach, Jim Sheckard, Jack Taylor, Luther HH. [Dummy] Taylor, Fred Tenney, Jake Thielman, Roy Thomas, Hans [Honus] Wagner, Jake Weimer, Bob Wicker, Victor Willis, [George "Hooks"] Wiltsie, and Irving Young. Hall of Fame members are denoted in boldface type. At time of issuance, Honus Wagner had already established himself among the National Pastime's greatest of the greats. Deadball Era pitchers, who enjoyed the upper hand over most batsman, had nothing on Wagner. Then in the midst of his 21-year career, Hans had never hit below .299 and usually hit .335 or better with a high of .381 to that point. The American Card Catalog designation for National League cards is WG-3. This is a well done, reprint edition. The word REPRINT appears in the lower left corner on the back side. Shipping includes eBay ShipCover insurance ($1.70). Condition: Excellent-Plus/Near-Mint or better. All cards have been scanned and, to repeat, 47 different cards constitute the complete REPRINT set. Seven cards were never reprinted: Fred Clarke, Mike Donlin, Bob Ewing, Ned Hanlon, Miller Huggins, Harry Pulliam and Cy Seymour. A personal recommendation: If the Deadball Era interests you as much as it does me, check out eBay listings for two books: Deadball Stars of the American League and Deadball Stars of the National League. They're bargains and contain a wealth of player biographies! _______________________ Important: Shipping Information Our goal has always been to keep shipping costs low.
