Description: Original Snead & Co. 75mm "Victory" lamp. It is engraved in the middle "Victory Nov. 11, 1918 75m/m Shell". The polished band near the bottom is engraved and reads: " They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore." This lamp was produced by Snead & Co. from a shell they recovered from the 1918 T. A. Gillespie Loading Company munitions plant explosion debris. 3 days of carnage and destruction occurred after the plant caught fire in October 1918, destroying the town of Morgan New Jersey and killing all factory workers and nearby residents.
