Description: For the Baseball Hobbyist . . . 1927 ZEENUT CARD [#31] Nicholas Dumovich ~ Mission Bells (Pacific Coast League) 91-Year-Old Early Candy Card by Collins-McCarthy Candy Co. Here is an original pre-war (pre-World War II) Zeenut card. It was produced by Collins-McCarthy Candy Company and comes from the Roaring Twenties, in Collins-McCarthy's 17th consecutive year of producing PCL candy cards. About the subject: Lefty Nick Dumovich started out with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Western Canada League in 1920. The 18-year-old got a promotion to the Pacific Coast League (PCL) late in the year and stuck with the L.A. Angels through 1922 when his 20-11 log got him his lone shot at Big League ball. In '23 with the Chicago Cubs Dumovich went 3-5 with a complete game and a save to his credit. Not bad with the stick, he hit .241 in his near-100 innings in The Show. Back in the PCL Angels in 1924 and Seattle's Indians (1925), he never quite repeated his 20-win banner year. In a decade of play in the bushes, Nick Dumovich posted a 111-92 won-lost record which includes a 61-46 mark at the highest minor-league level of his day (Double-A). He appeared on five baseball cards (all Zeenuts): 1920-21-22-25-27 This is a great addition to any serious collection: a 91-year-old Collins-McCarthy Candy Co. card depicting an old-time Pacific Coast League ballplayer. Condition: Technically fair to poor; check the high-resolution scans, front and back. A blue background has been provided to assist. _______________________ Important: Shipping Information Our goal has always been to keep shipping costs low.
