Opens up to approx, 17 x 11 inches for reading or perusal. Praising the agricultural innovations of the large German settlement in Cullman. A history of their immigration to Cullman; a general history of the Cullman area. This book, even though it was about German Americans, could not have been written and published six months later after the U S declared War on Germany. And being issued so close to that declaration, the distribution was very limited and some people who had the book destroyed their copies - making this publication VERY RARE indeed Book is LIGHTLY EX-LIBRARY with small rubber stamps on the 3 sides of the text block (see scan #3 above from a similar-sized book marked thusly) that one can see; there is a private collector's bookplate on the inside front cover and one rubber stamp on inside of rear cover. NO OTHER LIBRARY MARKINGS! No stamps on outside of binding, no card pocket, no cll numbers on backstrip; no stamps on title page. This book was legally bought at the recent auction of the Birmingham Southern College Rare Book room with the rare books therein being sold to help defray the expenses of closing the college down :-/ after more than 150 years :-{ Otherwise the book is fine & clean in its appearance, NO OTHER ON EBAY as of 26 Sept. 2024 ;-} _________________________________________________________ (the fine print ...
