Description: 1947-1966 Exhibits Alex Kellner Philadelphia A's + Bill Bruton Milwaukee Braves This listing includes the following two Exhibit Cards: 1) Alex Kellner, likely produced in 1950 based upon MADE IN U.S.A. in all capital letters and measuring 7/8". The card is in poor condition with surface creases, rounded corners, and age related tanning. Alex Kellner was a left handed pitcher and All-Star in 1949 who played for the Philadelphia Athletics (1948-1954), Kansas City Athletics (1955-1958), Cincinnati Reds (1958), and St. Louis Cardinals (1959). 2) Bill Bruton, likely produced sometime between 1957-1961 based upon being blank-backed with Printed in U.S.A. not in all capital letters. The card is in poor condition with a surface crease, rounded corners, and age related tanning. Bill Bruton was a centerfielder who led the National League in At Bats (636-1955), Runs Scored (112-1960), Triples (15-1956, 13-1960), and Stolen Bases (26-1953, 34-1954, 25-1955). He played for the Milwaukee Braves (1953-1960) and Detroit Tigers (1961-1964). According to KeyManCollectibles.com: The 1947-66 Exhibit set includes 341 unnumbered cards issued over 20 years. The cards feature black and white photos with a simulated autograph, are printed on thick cardboard, measure 3-3/8" X 5-3/8" and have blank backs. They are not numbered. The cards were created by the Exhibit Supply Co. of Chicago; the company released a new set each year. Many players were issued in more than one year while some only appeared in a few years, creating scarcities. Exhibit baseball cards are difficult to date because the only way to distinguish between years is by very subtle differences. Most Exhibit cards have very little identifying text on the front. Differences in the placement of text, font style, and wording such as "Made in U.S.A." or "Printed in U.S.A." help to narrow it down to the year in which they first appeared. Please see the photos.
