Description: [PHOTOGRAPHY, GOLDEN AGE HOLLYWOOD, CLARA KIMBALL YOUNG] BLUM, Daniel "SCREEN WORLD" New York. Greenberg. 1949 - 1954. Five volumes octavo. (6.0 in x 8.75 in) Bound in original tan cloth with black lettering. Sans jackets. Very good. This amazing and important group of 'Screen World' in many ways is THE MOST IMPORTANT SET EXTANT in that it has been INSCRIBED BY 'SCREEN WORLD' EDITOR DANIEL BLUM IN EVERY VOLUME IN EACH YEAR, TO SILENT SCREEN LEGEND CLARA KIMBALL YOUNG the dedicatee for the very 1st volume of 'SCREEN WORLD' in 1950 (for the 1949 year). Blum in his inscriptions always refers to Young in the fondest of terms. For example in the 1949 volume he writes: "To Clara Kimball Young - The gal this book is dedicated to - With my admiration - appreciation and affection from one of her many fans Danny Blum April 14, 1950" In addition to having the best possible association, this set also has the benefit of also containing photos and cast lists of all the best films of the day. Before IMDB, this is what the industry relied on for film information and actor credits. Countless stars appear in these volumes including Marilyn Monroe's first appearance in the 1954 volume. Katherine Hepburn, Burt Lancaster, Elizabeth Taylor, Lucille Ball, Judy Garland and many, many other stars are shown. A very desirable and important collectible for the serious vintage Hollywood collector. Provenance: We recently acquired what appears to be the remaining volumes of Clara Kimball Young's personal library numbering about 50 volumes.
