If you have a vintage 1950 vehicle in CA, then you can get it registered with an original vintage pair of 1947 CA plates that are DMV "clear". BUT, in addition to the pair of '51 plates, you will need a pair of these 1950 year tabs. BTW, the numbers on the tabs DO NOT have to match the numbers on the license plates and also DO NOT have to match each other, but DMV will require two of these.
