Please contact me with any questions or concerns. The manufacturers of Big Top Peanut Butter, W.T. Young Foods, Inc., which existed from 1945 to 1955, produced the Sing-A-Song glasses to merchandise an unknown product without advertising dollars. They believed a housewife would purchase a 50 cent decorated glass for only 39 cents for the glass and 11 ounces of high quality peanut butter. They also assumed that they would want at least 8 glasses, not one, thus leading to the design of over 200 designs. The designs were drawn and produced by the Hazel Atlas Glass Company. The glass was designed to be the same size as a common 12 ounces blown tumbler with a lip and added glass at the bottom. The glasses were a great success. W.T. Young Foods, Inc. was purchased by Proctor Gamble in June 1955. The company phased out the Big Top Peanut Brand and glasses and renamed the company Jif, which was packaged in lighter plastic jars.
