Description: Vintage West Bend USA aluminum serving oven bun / roll / bread warmer. The 3-piece set featuring a base, vented lid, and an inner basket to allow for steam and heat conduction. These serving ovens were used to warm baked goods, restore "just baked" freshness to breads and to restore crispness to crackers, snacks and cereal. Adjustable vent on top finial. Inner ventilated liner has 3 sections of holes 3/8” diameter. Embossed leaf pattern around base half. Handles and finial are made from a hard plastic-like material. Hallmarks: Bottom hallmark reads: “Serving Oven ~ A product of West Bend Aluminum Co. ~ West Bend, Wis., U.S.A., DES PAT No. D115821 ~ PAT No. 2170904 ~ PAT No. 2299995”. Bottom of liner reads “SERVING OVEN ~ CAUTION ~ Use over low / medium flame only ~ Excessive heat may damage utensil ~ Follow heating schedule in circular ~ Never use over high flame”. Approximate age: Circa 1950’s mid-century. Dimensions: 7” high x 9.5” diameter at widest point. With handles 11” wide. Base diameter is 6”. Unpacked Weight 1 lb. 4.4 oz. Condition: Good usable / collectible condition. Mentionable issue: 1) flattening on one side of lid (see photo next to last for out of round condition at approx. 8 o'clock position), 2) shallow 1/4" dent in lid top, 3) missing screw attaching side handle (see last photo), and 4) Incised printing on liner underside is scratched and difficult to read, Otherwise, patina and surface commiserate with age and use -- scuffs and discolorations.
