LeMay visits 306th Bomb Wing, Fairford, England Stratojet pilots train abroad -- Boeing B-47 Stratojets roar across the English countryside as men of the 306th Bomb Wing begin 90 days of operational training in Great Britain. Forty-five of these planes were flown from the United States by way of Newfoundland. One of the 600-mile-an-hour jet bombers made the trans-Atlantic hop in 5 hours 22 minutes.
