Description: This is a dramatic major lamination error on the obverse of a 1959-D silver Washington Quarter. The delamintaion is consistently deep and 50% of the obverse is affected. There is an island of retained lamination surrounding the letterers INGWT. The letter I of IN is absent. The reverse shows a lamination defect around the the Eagles beak that is retained making it appear somewhat ghostly and vampiric. The reverse shows expected weakness in the strike due to missing mass on the obverse. This quarter weighs 6.15 grams (under weight as expected). A normal silver quarter is 6.25 grams.
