1967 1968 Mustang Shelby Original 8000 Tachometer K Code Gt 350 Gt 500 Tach

Description: To be upfront, this is a original 1967 mustang face with 1968 Mercury tachometer controls recalibrated to a mustang 8000 tachometer. I had this done by Jon at ponycarbs back in the 80s for my 67 gt 350. Jon did alot of my restoration work on this car. Back then we both looked for almost a year for a correct 8000 tach parts and could never come up with anything. Best we could do is what we did. Installed a Mercury tach internals. Guts are out of a 68 Mercury. Couldn't use the 67 outer housing as the tach internals wouldn't fit. Tach is very nice. Needle moves freely. There is some dust and dirt on the face that needs to be cleaned. I'm not touching it. There are 2 marks in the face as shown in the pics. One above the rpm x 100 box and one under the oil and alternator lights. Those marks were there when I originally disassembled the tach from the housing. I have no way to test this anymore , but I did do the 9 volt battery test and the needle did move. I'm sure it's still correctly calibrated but again I have no way to test it. I would suggest sending it out to a professional to clean and test. Your probably asking why this isn't in the car anymore?? Well after restoring and going to a bunch of shows to get judged I kept on getting hit with deductions on the tach. Most if not all judges back then said it didn't have a redline, (false both tach faces were used) and 67 cars only got a 6000 tach (again false 8000 tach were used in some gt 350 cars). So I got fed up and installed a tach with the redline. In the process of moving into a smaller shop I found this in a box. Sorry for the long winded description.
