Washington - The 56-mile-wide Tycho Crater appears in these photos taken by...different cameras-one associated with an earth-based telescope and the other aboard Lunar Orbiter V. The top photo shows Tycho as very bright crater which throws linear rays over the entire visible side of the moon as photographed from Earth by Lick Observatory, Mt. Hamilton, California. The bottom photo of the combo shows the crater as taken with a wide angle lens of Orbiter V's medium resolution camera August 16. It is a view looking almost directly down into the crater showing central peak, rough floor and precipitous walls. Area in white rectangle is blown up in NXP 1566488.Photo measures 7 x 9.25inches.
