Inside print measures about 16.5"Wx14"H. About the Artist: (Born 1938, Taiwanese) Born in Taipei, Lifa Shaih was educated at the National Taiwan Normal University. He later studied at the Paris National Academy of fine Art in France. Known for his prints and paintings, Shaih is also a repected commentator and writer. Shaih has exhibited his art internationally, including at an art gallery in New York. He is a member of the Taiwan May Painting Association, the Taiwan Literature Research Association and the Taiwan Culture Exchange Center. He was a participant in the 9th International Print Biennial. Shaih's published books include A History of the Art Movement in Taiwan During the Japanese Occupation and People of the Taiwanese Soil. 1964He went to France, in Paris. He followed evening classes at the school of drawing applied to Art and Industry in Montparnasse, learned the technique, under Jean Delpech and studied sculpture at the french school of Fine Arts. ( E.S.B.A.) 1968He went to the United States and settled in New York.He dedicated to lithograph and silkscreen printing. 1970He studied photoengraving at the Pratt Graphic Centre and opened a workshop. 1982He taught engraving at Seton Hall University in New Jersey.He wrote many books on Art andTaiwanese artists. The best known :The History of Taiwanese Art Movement during Japanese Occupation won the second award Yung-Fu Wu for artistic criticism . 1988He returned to Taiwan. 1993With Liao Shiouping and Chen Jinfang , he co-founded the Paris Cultural and EducationalFoundation rewarding every year, outstanding young artists, with Paris Award. 1997He moved to Taichung. He began teaching Art History, at the Institute of Fine ArtsTaiwan Normal University.
