Using the original images of Los Caprichos, Dali colored them and added his own touches to the images, all in homage to Goya. These 80 illustrations were meant to be biting and even caustic and sometimes humorous observations by Goya of Spanish society in the first half of the 19th century. They were produced by Dali between 1973 and 1977 and shown for the first time in 1977. A number of the Caprichos show a donkey dressed in various outfits, representing the foolishness of humankind.
