1986-87 Fleer Wax Basketball Box, Certified By BBCE, Michael Jordan Rookie

Description: Details And History Of This 1986-87 Fleer Basketball Wax Box: In 1987 my Dad set up at a card show in Dearborn MI. He gave each my brother and I $10.00 to look around the show and pick out the best thing we could find. My brother came back right away with a awesome big bag of candy we both had been eyeing since we came in the card show. He would not give me any and sat there with a big smile on his face enjoying eating his candy. I was jealous. I walked around the show twice and decided I wanted a 1986-87 Fleer Basketball Wax Box. My dad collected mostly baseball, my brother football, and I collected mostly basketball. I knew there had been no basketball cards that came out the past three years and this would be the box to get for rookies, not just that year but the last three years of rookies that came out. 1986-87 was not Jordan, Barkley, or the other big rookies in this set, first year playing. Jordans first year in the NBA was actually 1984-85 but there were no basketball sets made that year besides the Star brand set. The only problem was the dealer wanted $15.00 for the box and I only had $10.00. I pleaded with the dealer but he said he could not go that low. Then all of a sudden he said ok? He reached under the clothing that draped around his table and pulled out a full case. He ripped open the case lids and said come around and take your box. I gave him the $10.00 smiling ear to ear and took a box. My Dads table was close in eyes view of that dealers table, I was so excited to show my dad. I said I bargained with him and he took money off and gave me the box! He said Great Job! The show was coming to an end and I saw my Dad walk over to that table again. He came back with another box. He said you keep that box closed and save it, we'll open this box together. I know now what happened. When that dealer said ok to $10.00, he was looking over at our table. My Dad must have given him a thumbs-up or something, and that is how I got that box. I'll never know for sure. But, my Dad probably gave the dealer $20.00, my $5.00 and $15.00, for the other box. When we got home we opened up the other box. We made one set, put it in plastics in a book as we did with all our sets, and sold the others. We had a total of 4 Jordan rookies. Grading did not start really until 1991 when David Hall started PSA and did not become popular until later. We know the 3 Jordans we sold were 9-10's, the cards were so nice. I still have the full set in the plastics today, never touched after putting in the plastics that day in 1987, not graded. Anyone that has looked at them say the cards are 9-10's, that includes top professional grader BBCS Steve Hart. Since this box was right next to the box we opened, we can only assume the cards in this box, the Jordans, the rookies, and all the stickers... are probably 9-10's too. It is known that year's Fleer Company printing, if one box out of a case is perfectly centered, the printing of all the boxes, in that case, are probably centered too. My Dad passed away shortly after that card convention in 1987. He was only 47. Everyone always asks me why didn't you open that box or sell it all these years later. My Father said to save it and it was one of the last memories I had with my Dad. But nothing lasts forever and it is time to sell. My kids are going to college. I have had it in a safe ever since, over 35 years. The only time I have taken it out was to take it to Steve Hart at BBCE in IN. Steve examined the box and packs with gloves on in front of me. It was sealed and the letter of authentication was given, as shown in the pictures. If you are seriously thinking about investing and buying a 1986-87 Fleer Basketball Wax Box, I would make sure you know the full history of the box. Over the years I have been offered $305,000 (during Covid), $275,000, $250,000 twice, $220,000 along with many other offers and trades. One being a lifetime use of a Hawaii vacation home with use of a new H2 Hummer. Crazy. I have turned them all down. Timing was not right. Because of the history of this specific box, Ken Goldin at Golden Auctions wanted to put it in his auctions, but again the timing has was not right. Today we all know what a 1986-87 PSA 10 Jordan Rookie can bring. On July 17, 2021 an PSA 10 MJ rookie sold for $840,000.00. Four times the asking price of this historic box. And, you will get 3-4 chances to get this card! Michael Jordan himself is a billionaire. And now, his rookie card is a millionaire. In a record sports card sale, an autographed version of the 1986-87 Fleer Jordan rookie card sold for $1.008 million with the auction house Christie's on Jun 14, 2022. There are no guarantees and no refunds but there is a high percentage that this box, because of its proven history, could produce some of the nicest potentially graded 9-10 cards because: 1). It came straight out of the case in 1987 next to a box that had all 9-10 potential gradings.2). That the same owner still has the set from the box, whose cards are likely 9-10's, that was bought right next to this box from the same sealed case. And, that the owner can provide photos of the cards. 3). That it has had only one owner since taken directly out from the case that has been in a safe for 35 years.4). That the box has been certified and sealed by BBCE. 5). That this box may be the only box known today to have a history of only one owner, taken directly from the case by that same owner, and never handled by anyone else but the original owner. Only to be taken out and graded by BBCE's owner Steve Hart, confirming its originality.6). You have the full history of this box from the one origional owner. No surprizes if you hold onto this as an investment and open it years later. We have all heard the horror stories, even of BBCE boxes being counterfit. This is 100% piece of mind, the real deal. At a January, 2021 Goldin Auction, a "1986/87 Fleer Basketball Unopened Wax Box (36 Packs) - BBCE Certified" sold for a final figure of $362,400. I am offering this increasingly rare, "1986/87 Fleer Basketball Unopened Wax Box (36 Packs) - BBCE Certified" - for a much lower price. During the certification process, BBCE's authenticators state this is a 100% original box and packs with the correct sticker correlation. This is basketball hobby's most universally sought-after unopened product. Collectors and investors predict within a few years, this 1986-87 Jordan Rookie Card Wax Box could be valued around $1 million! Thank you for reading. What a huge investment and opportunity!
