(1942-2019) BiographyContemporary artist Gerald Lubeck, born in 1942, originally hailed from New Jersey. Lubeck was granted a scholarship to New York's National Academy of Design, where he studied with the distinguished portraitist Laos Markos and landscape painter Maxwell S. Simpson. During his military service as a medic in Vietnam, his subjects were often Vietnamese people whom Lubeck met during his time in that country. Receiving over 50 awards during his career, artist and painter Gerald Lubeck's artwork would usually come in first place or best in show. Although he spent most of his time working in oils, he also explored various kinds of art media, such as engraving and lithographic prints.
