Answer: Regarding top speed, this is a 6.5L w/ 3 speedtransmission, so when i said "Fast" in thedescription, I'm not referring to top speed. Top speed is 75-80 MPH, but itisn t meant to be driven that fast. "Fast" was a reference to itsacceleration, because it gets up to speed remarkably quickly for a big truck.When you accelerate at a green light you are going just as fast as any cartypically. Also about top speed, consider handling:when i got the truck icould barely keep it on the road at even 50 MPH (the steering was extremelyloose/ huge amount of play). Few surplushumvees are safe to operate on road past 30 MPHunless you re-do the steering. I endedup having to replace ALL of the steering (steering column, steering wheel,idler arm, pitman arm, shocks, springs, upper and lower ball joints, yanked therun flats and balancing beeds out of the tires,balanced wheels with metal weights). Then did a series of alignments forgetting toe/camber/thrust correct had to repeatedly remove / swap shims at allfour wheels until the tires sat flat on all four paws. And then it was perfectat highway speeds with totally tight steering. Lanes of streets around my house are only ten feet wide, and withmirrors on Humvee extending 7 7 wide there is zero room for error; thissteering has pinpoint responsiveness now. Also abouttop speed originally it sounded like a turbo gizmo coming from all four wheelsbecause the geared hubs were screaming noisy on the highway, they each neededservicing, so once that was done it was quiet even at highway speeds. 1:59 PMQuestion: Good afternoon, I was curious with all the work you vedone has anything been done about heat and A/C? Answer: It doesn't have a/c. Regarding heat: I replaced the builtin heater and all the hoses and then it was STILL completely insufficientduring a serious snow storm, so it is coming with a portable 24V 1500 btuheater that you plug in and set on the center hump and it pumps serious heat.Also got (but have never needed to use here in Virginia) an engine block heaterwhich is also portable: it attaches via a magnet to the oil pan and then plugsin with an extension cord. I've replaced the cold weather start valve, because i didn't know how to test it. Not for HEAT insulation, buthere s my favorite hack that I recommend to everyone: you'll see if you lift the bonnet in thecenter console is that I've stuffed household pink insulation all around theengine block under the bonnet, but this has a totally different reason thanheat insulation... It is the single best noise buffer I've installed. I hadalready put stereo super sound insulations on every single panel on floors,sides and engine compartment but you still couldn't hear the passenger talkingto you... so after hundreds of dollars and lots of work, later found thatjamming pink insulation around the engine at the console is the serious trickto noise abatement. And a failed/useless add-on: I installed (but later removedand now sitting in the supply shed for you) surplus asbestos-type pipe wrapperinsulations for the entire exhaust system, thinking it would damper sound. Iremoved them and put into storage because they did zero for noise, but were theattributing factor for my needing to replace the exhaust system twice becausemoisture apparently wouldn't weep out of holes or something and rusted thepipes. Every gadget for an hmmwv that's ever come forsale i have snatched up and tried - many of themstupid failures like that one.
