Idina Hatton (Jenny Agutter; top left photo) has been a long time lover of Lord Seadown (Mark Tandy; top right photo, left), the eldest son of the Brightlingsea family. As she foolishly awaits for a proposal of marriage, Lord Seadown meets and marries the beautiful and wealthy American, Virginia St. George (Alison Elliott; top right photo, right). The greatest prize of all, however, falls to Nan St. George (Carla Gugino; bottom, right), who catches the eye of Julius Folyat, the Duke of Trevenick (James Frain; bottom, left) the most eligible man in England.
