Periwinkle (Vinca Rosea Dwarf Little Blanche) White periwinkle is a trouble-free delight in the flower garden. It begins blooming in early summer with big, pure white flowers. The flowers continue in full force for months, despite extreme heat, drought and poor soil. The plants are uniform and full. Periwinkle flowers attract butterflies, bees, and other pollinating insects with their nectar. Being a low-growing cover plant, these vincas can be used in many ways: edging the front of a flower bed, placement in baskets and tubs, and just as a general ground cover. Their simple white hue can be used as a simple fill color to blend with any other garden flower. Vincas can be grown as a perennial in areas where frost is not an issue, and can also be grown as a houseplant during winter months. It will continue to bloom despite heat and drought, making it an excellent hot-climate plant. Periwinkle Seed - White How To Grow Plant seeds indoors 6 - 10 weeks before the last frost is expected. Cover the seeds with 1/4 inch of potting mix, spray with water to moisten and press down lightly. These flower seeds will not germinate in any sort of light, so cover trays or containers with a black plastic sheet or a newspaper. Lift the cover regularly to mist seeds. Once seedlings appear, they need bright light. At 2-3 inches tall, transplant strongest seedlings to individual pots. They can be moved outside once temperatures are above 65F degrees.
