Description: Designed by Morton Myles for The Warrens, this unique 38 inch bust dress features micro-pleats, or what many people know as Fortuny style pleats. Made in the USA, with a vintage ILGWU Union logo label, it is black with champagne beige and has a front design of horizontally elongated diamonds. Slim fit in style, with a 39 inch hip, the shape definition is retained with lining in the body of the dress. A free fit is enabled for the sleeves, which aren't lined. Those 3/4 length sleeves have elastic as the cuffs so you can wear them as 3/4 length or shorter by pushing up the elastic. As you can see in the photos, each sleeve has a built-in pouf from a small internal shoulder pad that is stitched to the inside top of each sleeve. A back zipper, with a top hook, makes this dress one that is easy on, easy off. For most women this will be below knee length. The size label is size 10, however please use these measurements to determine your fit. Do not rely on the size shown because sizing standards have changed so much over the years. The fit of this dress is more like a modern size 6. Please refer to the photos that show the lining to verify these for yourself.38 inch bust20 inch armhole opening20 inch long sleeve39 inch hip46 inch full length There is a designer label and some that show ILGWU Union logos, plus the vintage size label, however there isn't a fabric content label. Micro-pleating was done on both silk and polyester fabrics, so this could be either one of those. The fabric has a soft silky feel and shine. In Very Good Vintage condition, there are no stains, odors, holes or unraveling. The cuffs, neckline, lining and underarms are clean. The back zipper slides easily. Freshly cleaned, this comes to you from a home with no pets and no smokers. This American designer has an interesting history. Myles was born in Manhattan, New York, in 1929. He went to the Fashion Institute of Technology where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1950. He double-majored in Fashion Design and Production Management. Next, Myles moved to Paris, France where he extended his education in couture dressmaking and design at the Chambre Syndicale and Ecole Guerre-Lavigne. After completing his education in fashion design in both New York and Paris, Morton Myles became an assistant to couturier Jacques Fath in Paris. When he returned to Manhattan his designs were sold in high-end department stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Lord & Taylor, Bergdorf Goodman and Marshall Field’s. In 1961 his name became familiar when Jacqueline Kennedy was photographed in one of his designs on Good Friday in Palm Beach, Florida. He kept designing until his retirement in 1994.
