Description: Offered is this antique magazine article and accompanying illustration, taken from the January, 1793 issue of "Gentleman's Magazine". The article, "The Biographical History of Thomas Wright" is four pages long, not including the full-page illustration showing Wright and an "astronomical cylinder". Thomas Wright was an English astronomer, mathematician and architect, among other things. He was born in 1711 and died in 1786. "Gentleman's Magazine" was first published in 1731 and continued, with a few years' hiatus, through the early 1900s. Each page is approx. 8 1/4" x 5". They are in good condition for their age. There are no major tears, but there are some short edge tears along the edges that were attached to the magazine. The paper has yellowed and is lightly to moderately foxed. The page that was next to the illustration is more heavily foxed with an image of the illustration. This page also has a crease near the uneven edge.
