Description: Made from a 10..5-m,m art sh--ell (Mi4), dated 1944, and punch decorated with a scene of an American soldier running behind a running German soldier while he is ba--yone--ting him in the rear. The American is wearing a M1917A1 helmet, and may have been made by a local maker (Frenchman?). His unit – 90th Infantry Division insignia and 344th F.A. Id., and a presentation, “To Rose From Moxie.”The 4 holders are filed to better hold cigarettes. Base diameter is 4 5/8 inches.Cleaned a long time ago, and brass polish residue highlights the punch holes. The 90th ID was one of the Normandy assaul --ting units, with 5 campaigns: Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes-Alsace, Rhineland, and Central Europe. I have no information on “Moxie.”A nice piece of WWII tren,,ch art with some history.Fine condition.
