Description: This is a large blue and white charger decorated with the river scene, a version of the Chinese Canton river scene. The octagonal shape is classic Japanese - a square with "clipped" corners. The border decorations are geometric diapers of squares and diamonds; and cartouches showcasing prunus and pine; the corners are stylized moths or butterflies. The blue is intense and inky. The back stamp is an underglaze blue square mark. The charger measures 13" x 13" from one side to the other side; 151/2" x 15 1/2" from corner to corner. The charger weighs 4 lbs. 13 oz.. It is in very good to excellent condition. No chips cracks or repairs. Some tiny firing flaws in the glaze.
