The company used the occasion to make a big pr splash for the bold, “modernistic” post-WWII generation of Diesel loco- motives. ALCO called it “The 2000” in honor of its break- through 2000 hp V-16 “244” engine; a single prime mover compared to EMC’s twin engine E-series. The A-B set dem- onstrated on the LV June-July of 1946, powering its name passenger trains between Newark, NJ and Buffalo, NY. Andy worked long and hard to research this subject in order to create this beautiful and accurate depiction of the pair as it actually looked while being tested before its official introduction.
