Description: Rare American Airlines original travel offset litho poster for San Francisco. Designed by Dong Kingman it features a view of San Francisco from the Hyde Street Pier. The bottom image is a panoramic view of the San Francisco Bay and the Oakland Bay Bridge which collapsed during the earthquake of October 17, 1989. The poster was found with several other Dong Kingman posters, prints which will also be listed. I believe this one is rare because it is missing the San Francisco and American Airlines names. It may be a first test run or an artist’s proof? Photos were taken outside in bright sunlightl and there are reflections from the glass jars holding it down. The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum has this poster in their collection. The only difference is the size. The Smithsonian version is much smaller and measures (H x W) 51 x 38.1 cm or 1 ft. 8 1/16” x 1 ft. 3” Condition; some toning and edge tears, could be linen mounted Size: (H x W) 101.6 x 76.2 cm or 2.5 ft x 3.33 ft or 30" wide x 40" high
