Description: Antique American Historical Staffordshire Dark Blue and White PITTSFIELD ELM Transfer Dinner Plate, Ralph and James Clews, c. 1820 - 1835. This beautiful early piece of dark blue and white transfer printed Staffordshire was made about 1820, in the Staffordshire district of England. This pattern is known to Staffordshire collectors as "Winter View of Pittsfield, MA.", it was manufactured by Ralph and James Clews. This scene is also known as "Pittsfield Elm". This is marked with a blue printed eagle mark that reads, "WINTER VIEW OF PITTSFIELD, MA. - CLEWS". There is also an impressed mark that reads, "CLEWS WARRANTED STAFFORDSHIRE." CONDITION: The condition is good with some light spots of staining and a tight hairline to the foot rim. The appearance from the front is excellent.
