It is designed to be used when a traditional mast style antenna is not an option. You simply let the antenna hang from the back of your radio and that's it. The installation is as simple as can be as there are no holes to drill or wires to snake. It's 40 inches long and works best if the wire is fully extended and not in an enclosure. Reception is decent for what it is. It will pick up the closest stations well but if you're looking for something magical that picks up everything in this style antenna they don't exist. It's limitations are because it's "self grounding" where as permanent installations use the vehicle ground and car body to enhance reception. It's perfect when used on boats, motorcycles, ATV's, golf carts, campers, and anywhere you want radio reception and can't drill holes. Not to mention, did we say, this is an easy plug-n-play install. The price is right and it does the job you would expect. It obviously works best with better radios with higher end tuners compared to something cheap.
