In her highly detailed linear compositions such as the well-known State Capitol and Terrace Hill series, architecture, history, nature, fantasy, satire, and nightmares meet. A long-time resident of Des Moines where she maintains a studio, Amy was born and raised in New York. She received her B.A. in Art from Smith College and her M.A. in Printmaking from the University of Iowa. Known nationally and internationally, her works have been exhibited all over the U.S, Europe, Japan, and China. Her prints are in important public museums’ permanent collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Cleveland Museum of Art; Harvard University Art Museums; and the National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. She has created commissioned editions of engravings for Iowa State University; the University of Iowa; the Des Moines Metro Opera; and the Iowa Economic Development Authority. Amy has had a home in Venice since 2004 and is currently working on prints and drawings influenced by her life in Italy. Active as a scholar of the history of printmaking, she is Curator of Prints and Drawings, Emerita, of the Des Moines Art Center and is a member of the Print Council of America.
