Description: Ansonia Clocks - Ultra Rare “Round Bee” Clock with German Porcelain Case Model 1037 III This beautiful antique Ansonia Clock Clock Beautiful is a marvelous and enchanting example of the late 1800’s Ansonia “Bee” clock craftsmanship and ornate German porcelain of the Victorian era. Ansonia “Bee” clocks are highly sought after and even included in the collection of the British Museum. This Ansonia clock is a rare example of the classic Ansonia “Bee” clock with a “Round Bee” logo and bee illustrations printed on the clock face and manufactured to be inserted into an ornate German porcelain case with a cylindrical aperture. The standard “Bee” clocks do not have the “Round Bee” logo and bee illustrations. Size:This ornate Ansonia clock is 8 inches tall x 5.5 inches wide x 3 inches deep. Design: The clock is a rare and highly collectible Ansonia “Round Bee” clock. The clock face is enclosed securely with a pristine glass face cover and has classic Roman numerals and delicate clock hands. These two printed inscriptions appear on the clock face: 1) The words “Round Bee” accompanied by two beautiful illustrations of Ansonia flying bees and the Ansonia “A” trade mark. 2) “Made By The Ansonia Clock Co. New York, U.S.A. The clock housing design is an ornate white porcelain case, adorned with a delicate floral design of pink and yellow roses, lush greenery and gold relief. The finely detailed craftsmanship and finish exudes elegance and charm. This mantel clock was manufactured in the Victorian period of the late 1900’s The beautiful, large footed porcelain case was made in Germany for the Ansonia Clock Company. Condition:The clock is in good cosmetic condition. The painting detail is masterful and the colors are rich. The gilt is worn in some places. The glowing finish is pristine, subtle and sublime. The clock has not been wound by the key on the back and has not been opened.The condition of the clock mechanics or whether the clock works is unknown. Most likely due to the age, the clock would require some servicing to function fully and correctly The porcelain lip at the top of the clock has been broken and cemented back in place.There is one small chip in the porcelain at the top left edge. There is a small crack along the bottom right leg with a light cement residue. See photos for details. Inscription & MarksOn the underside of the base is an underglaze blue hand-painted “X” mark accompanied by a capital “R” letter. Also on the underside is the inscription “Germany” with a “W” style mark underneath. Also on the underside is the inscribed model number 1037.
