Description: Simply amazing, and rare Maranao gilt bracelet. The Maranao people live on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. They are Muslim and are known as "the people of the lake". Their jewelry making tradition is strong and has ties to Malaysian jewelry of this era. The bracelet is likely late 19th century. Obtained from a multigenerational collection that started in the Philippines in the 19th century. Along with many traditional antique Filipino weapons was this hidden jewel that no one recognized. It's made of brass and the filigree diamond may be low grade silver. I haven't tested for silver. The cabochon (stone) is likely glass. It has a very unique clasp type that allows the bracelet to be put on a bit easier but doesn't open wide. These bracelets are very, very rare. It will be a unique addition to any collection of jewelry, particularly Asian jewelry. Inner diameter is approximately 2.25". Ships ASAP! Please see photos and ask any questions before purchase. Thanks
