Description: Discover the rich history of American Indians with this rare two-volume set by George Catlin. The first edition, printed in 1841, is a must-have for collectors and enthusiasts alike. The hardcover binding and original printing make this a unique addition to any collection. Explore the topic of American Indians through beautiful illustrations and detailed descriptions. This book set is perfect for anyone interested in historical accounts of the subject. Recently purchased a box of old books at an estate auction, apparently whoever cleaned out the house just grabbed books off the shelf and boxed them up, Missouri rednecks, of which I am one, aren't too interested in old books, and no one took the trouble to look through these, their loss my gain. At home perusing through my box I found this set along with another early west 1st. edition set with appraisal sheets inside. Please zoom photos and ask any question before making an offer. This set is priced on other sites from $ 7000 to $ 12,000, depending on condition. This set was ( at some time ) was appraised at $10,000. The frayed edge you see in photo #4 is the edge of a fold out map which could be trimmed. Photo #12 shows a piece torn out inside back cover. These two flaws are both in volume #1. A photo of appraisal is the last photo. With the torn page in mind I'm pricing this set with what I consider a fair value. I will entertain any reasonable offer. Will ship insured.
