Description: LIVING ESTATE SALE (Details at the end of description) For your consideration is a Weeden 14 made in the USA in the 1920s. From the Weeden site :The Number 14, manufactured from the late 1800's up to 1940, was Weeden's most popular engine. It has a six legged table style cast iron frame, a design shared with two other similar electrically heated models, the No.647 and No.648. The No.14's distinctive boiler is heated with a rectangular shaped three wick burner. The engine may be reversed simply by stopping it and flipping the flywheel in the other direction. This genuine antique engine is a great restoration project.It has been air tested (video) and performed well on air, including the whistle.The governor was a bit reluctant to turn. In the present condition, the engine would not run on steam.It needs a pressure relief valve (must have). The base of the pressure relief valve is present but it is incomplete.It would also need some heating source ; typically a spirit burner. All in all, it is a nice and fairly easy project, but the bottom of the boiler is quite dirty (soot).Chances are, pretty much all the centenarian gaskets have dried up and need replacement. Two parts are missing : the burner tray and some elements of the pressure relief valve (only the base is present). All the parts are original with the exception of the governor that is a casting of an original one. The bottom of the boiler is quite dirty (soot).
