Description: Great, mid-to-late 1830’s stoneware jar made by J Bennage pottery in Springfield, Portage Co. Ohio. Nice exaggerated ovoid form. Decorated cobalt accent stripe on front shoulder and to applied lug handle terminals. Some glaze aging. Minor rim chips. One gallon size: 9 1/4” h. Note: a companion jar with stamp ‘J Bennage 1837’ is also listed on eBay but not included with this auction.
