Description: This is a guaranteed old soap dish. They were remade a number of decades ago. The originals look like the face of a real cat; the new ones are rather strange looking. There are currently new ones listed and even one that sold recently for a significant amount of money. There are good examples in Terry Taylor and Terry & Kay Lowrance, Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, p. 221. This one is in fair shape with one chip on the outside rim.
