Description: Antique photograph of young girl, “hand-colored” in Ornate gold wood frame. Early 1900’s - Wadds Bros. A haunting portrait of a young blonde girl in a puffy sleeved dress. It has the feel of the Victorian era to me. The photo is Hand-colored - a method of adding color to a monochrome photography, generally to heighten the realism of the image of for artistic purposes. Also known as “hand painting” or “overprinting.” The child’s golden locks stand out framed with a gold matt and ornate antique gold wood frame. The frame shows chips, some damage and patina, suitable for its age, but I think that’s all part of its antique charm. The back of the picture is framed with rustic wood with wire hanger, ready to hang. The photo is stamped “Wadds Bros.” The Wadds Brothers were photographers in Vancouver in the early 1900’s A definite conversation starter and colorful addition to an eclectic decor!
