Description: Vintage Antique Wooden Croquet Set in the Original Dovetail Jointed Wooden Box. This is a very old set. It has a dove tailed box. There are six mallets and one extra handle. Condition is "Used". There are 5 balls and 2 center stakes. Most of the balls and mallets have some of the original paint and finish. The 9 wire slightly bent wickets are included.The approximate measurements of the box is 34" long x 11" wide. With a few repairs this is a playable set. The History of Croquet started sometime before 1850 and somewhere in Ireland, moved to England and eventually found it’s way to the US. In the beginning croquet was more of a women’s game, but men have embraced the game over the years as well. Croquet was also a game where both women and men could play together and equally challenge each other for sport or for fun.
