Description: This toothpick holder was produced by US Glass in the late 1800s. It was produced with manganese as a glass additive. Manganese slowly turns the glass purple as it reacts with the sun’s UV rays. This piece will continue to turn purple, very slowly, if left in the sun. The manganese in the glass causes the glass to glow green under a UV light, particularly a 365 UV flashlight. The flashlight I am using to make this piece fluoresce is a Lumenshooter 365. There are two chips on the top lip of the glass, both are visible in photos. The piece is 2.5 inches tall, the top has a diameter of 1.75 inches, the bottom has a diameter of 2.25 inches.
